Και αν τύχει και πλησιάσουν, μπορείς να τους μιλήσεις για όλα εκείνα που αμήχανα και άβολα σου πρόσφεραν. Μόνο για να αντιληφθείς πως πάνω τους δε μπορείς να ακουμπήσεις. Θυμήσου πως για να ακουμπήσεις κάπου χρειάζεσαι χώρο. Στις γεμάτες αγκαλιές, πώς να στριμωχτείς και στις αγκαλιές που δεν άνοιξαν ποτέ, πώς να κουμπώσεις;

Fat, alone and unemployed

Fat, alone and unemployed #IWillMarch
I quitted my job in 2013, on a sunny Monday morning because that’s exactly what Mondays do to you. But I was really unhappy, disappointed, unpaid, working without a contract and health insurance for more than a year. So, I just did it. I quitted. I thought, or to be totally accurate, I was convinced that my skills and qualifications would have been enough for me to get a new job in less than three months. I didn’t and when I realized that it was already 2014 I slept. I slept for days, weeks, months until one day I woke up and I was weighing 80 pounds more. With some brief calculations, that meant 25 pounds for every month that I’ve been sleeping. I barely left my apartment, abandoned any activity, rarely talked to my friends and my only walks were either to the supermarket or the ones my dog asked for. One day I felt so tired and miserable with my own self, I refused to accept my poor fate and decided to create a better one, more suitable for me. That’s what 26 years of life experiences had prepared me for. On the same day I realized how fat I had become, trying to put on some proper clothing in order to go out. I enrolled myself in a Masters program, though I already held one.

You know, unemployment is a tricky phase in someone’s life. Few are the professionals that never faced it or even the threat of it. It is crucial to have a strong personality, a solid background and amazing people who will support you. In my case, fortunately I had the background. Unemployment that lasts for more than a few months is a horrible experience. You can’t provide yourself with the basics, you can’t treat yourself or your beloved ones the way you wish, you pray for every single cent and you deny personal needs and life. You feel devaluated and humble, no one can help you and you can do nothing but hope for a job position to pay for your debts. You feel stressed and a parasite to your relatives. You feel empty. You consider yourself exhaustively useless, unable to fulfill your goals and desperately willing to lower your expectations by doing any job you can get.
In 2014-2015 my life was focused on my studies, I took Mandarin and Russian classes, applied for more than 600 jobs in Greece, was invited to 2 interviews, my relationship was a wreck and I continued talking to my dog as if he was my personal therapist. I was forced to move to a neighborhood with no easy access to the city center and had to spend 4 hours in the public transportation in order to reach my university. In January 2015 for 6 months I got myself a short contract as an administrative assistant. Part time but it made me hope again that I am not too old to bloom again. If so, why do we call them late bloomers?
I never stopped applying for any job I believed that I had the qualifications, better or worse than what I wanted to do for a living. After 3.000 applications, early in August, I got my life changing email; my very first letter of acceptance. I was on the phone talking when I opened it and after reading the first words I bursted into tears of pure happiness. Without any single thought or hesitation, I responded ‘yes’. Yes, I will come to live for 6 months to this charming French city. Yes, I will leave it all behind, the love, the people, the house. Yes, I will change my life and think no more about the fear and the stress and the uselessness of my unemployed self. And, oh yes, I did. In 9 days, I packed my life in 2 suitcases, waved my dog au revoir, broke up after 6 years of relationship and let all my friends find out about my runaway through an update on Facebook.
Image title

By that time, I was living in Greece. That’s where I come from. That’s where I was raised, where my roots are to be found. A city named Thessaloniki, the second largest of my country and located on the northern part of Greece is what I call home in terms of belonging. And I would be able to belong there for the rest of my life. I would not choose to live in any other part of Greece. Because to be honest, we have it all; the sea, the sun, the city center, the European character, the history, the political significance, the cultural heritage, the magic. We have it all, besides jobs. The well known or notorious fiscal and financial crisis, overly discussed during the last 7 years has changed the situation of employment in Greece. The market looks like a roman arena where only lions survive. I guess I was not ready to eat bloody flesh. After all, I am a vegetarian out of compassion.
Mentioning the notion of compassion, I remember why I broke up. Unemployment is a bitch. It’s the third person in-between a relationship that was never meant to be strong enough during the first turbulances. Unemployment shadows every emotion, you feel less, you offer less, you are told that you should feel less and you are repeatedly told that you offer less. That’s unemployment, but humans are responsible for the words to be said. Sometimes, it’s better to be alone, during the hardest times instead of sitting next to someone who doesn’t seem eager to support or understand you. Not to mention the fact that you cannot support anyone else either..
September 2015 found me in my little studio, 29sqm of my own. I bought a plant, I bought a mug and framed my dog on every wall. Yes, I love my dog. I love human beings, I love every creature that breathes and rests under the sun. I respect life and I want every form of natural life to be sustainable. That’s another lesson taught with the kind sponsorship of unemployment; to respect everyone and everything. Nothing is given to us, nothing is provided without a reason and we deserve nothing more than the others. The basis of all the skills, the most crucial core of any thought, the fundamental stone of every aspect in life is respect. Whatever you wish to be, whatever you are dealing with, whoever you talk to, whoever you love, do that with respect. I respected every single moment in my new city, Strasbourg. I was alone, I had a kind of job for 8 hours every day, I was writing my thesis on energy diplomacy and I was able to think about myself. What I have become, what I want to become, who I seem to be in the eyes of the others. I thought it all with the deepest respect.

I gave myself the present of a year. A whole year out of my life to do whatever I wished. I would allow myself to do anything I loved, liked or dreamt without any second thought. I would exploit my opportunity to be abroad and I would make my life as fabulous as I could. My main aim would be to have a job by the end, to gather experiences and exchange ideas and knowledge that would lead me to my objective. I started traveling. I started visiting countries I had seen before but never looked so beautiful. One after the other, Switzerland, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Italy, Belgium, Great Britain, Turkey, Bulgaria. Everything seemed new to me, a whole world to explore and see the possibilities that lay beneath. I was applying for jobs everyday for a couple of hours, I was sitting at the European or Balkan cafes and gazed at the way people, professionals or not, behaved. I started having a routine in my small French city. Routine is important when you chase a goal. You need to find your purpose and focus. Traveling opened my eyes again. I remembered what had fascinated me when I was younger and why I wanted to live abroad. It was unemployment that made me hungry, I was hungry and now I was ready to eat.

Unemployment is a lesson, a tricky one, I told you before. It makes you forget who you are, deletes from your brain archives the sense of self-respect and self-esteem, you ignore your capacities and potential, you do not see the footprint that you can leave in the world. Your own personal footprint in our grandiose world full of ideas and actions, which is as unique as you are and without it the same world would be different. But no, when you are unemployed you do not think like that.See, unemployment changes you. I told you how I slept for weeks. That’s why routine is so vital for you, mentally and physically as well. You have to keep your body and mind active. Do some puzzles, some crosswords, Sudoku or some math. You have to be busy and full of energy, to exercise and feed yourself well. Nourish yourself and prepare for the battle to come. Stay positive in your thoughts and find activities that you enjoy. Read, listen, learn. I like to paint, I like to write, I listen to music and I play brain games frequently. Do whatever pleases you. Besides sinking in a chair in front of the tv hugging a bowl of potato chips. That’s how I worked with myself for a whole year and it all came up, the reasons I studied so many years, the reasons I speak 9 languages, the dreams and the goals, the professional experiences already acquired, the personal development, the advices I had received from friends and mentors. It all came up. Everyone had prepared me, except me.

In my first two months in Strasbourg, I managed to lose 30 pounds even if I tasted almost every single French dessert available, I had travelled half Central Europe and had fixed 7 professional appointments in order to explore the possibility of a permanent or temporary contract. I created a life. Again. I had my crash and now I was rebooting. I was hoping again and I was willing to do my best with the gift of life that I was given. I have to have a life well spent. My contract was until January 2016. I would not let time decide, I was not going for sure to go back to Greece empty-handed. But all my plans for business meetings and endless travelling and discussing and marketing my own CV in Europe had no success.
The terrorist attack in Paris, November 2015 changed my path. The safety measures affected everyday life in the whole country and the series of attacks that followed across the European continent changed the life in Europe as we knew it. I was offered only unpaid 3 months traineeships but I already had a traineeship and I was too old to work for free not to mention overqualified. So I said no, and with some sorrow inside my European heart I booked a ticket for two months in the USA. I knew that I would not be able to discuss about a job with my visa status but I wanted to explore the country, see how the market works, how people behave and how people succeed out of nothing in a country so diverse and so different to my eyes. I wanted to discuss a PhD program and acquire personal experiences.
In Greece, in France, in Belgium, even in the USA people started to wonder what I was doing wrong so long and even if you ask me today, I am still unable to provide you a convincing and reasonable answer. I guess that my main problem was that I identified myself as an unemployed, setting aside anything else that characterized me as a human being. I had my CV and resume changed over a dozen times, I had written hundreds of motivation letters, I filled numerous forms of applications in the two years period of my job hunting process. Still, I had no success in getting an interview. What was my fault? I heard lots of people, I asked the opinion of few that really mattered to me, I talked to professionals, visited recruiting agencies, I discussed the way to a job across Europe exhaustively. But nothing. And then the people who were wondering about my situation kept talking. Oh my God, how much talking! Endless opinions and advices, diverse points of view, several stories and personal cases, experiences of people that they had listened before, mindsets and words, words, words which I was invited to follow and adjust to my CV and resume and cover letter in order to succeed. And I wanted so much to listen to all this information but I couldn’t. I was confused. How could not be? People I knew, people who knew me, people who the people I knew have known, people that never met me before…Everyone had a plan for me, a piece of advice, a manual which I had to accept as the mysterious gift to humanity. People talk. Some of them never asked me what I had studied in my Bachelors or where I had worked before. But they kept talking.
People like talking. They like it more than listening and that’s what unemployment does to you; no one cares about your opinion, no one wants to know your skills or your knowledge, no one expects your opinion on professional issues. You should shut up, you are unemployed. What can you possibly know? If you knew better, you would have a career. That’s what you get when you sit around the arena but you don’t have a job in it. Even the lions won’t feel your threat. That’s a point of view that exists but no one is forced to accept. It’s a huge misunderstanding, a false concept, a wrong way to approach an unemployed person. If unemployment is tricky, you should see how tricky the people around you are when you face that situation. There will be and there are people who surround you only to diminish you, to show off their career, to make you feel worthless, to cover their own flaws under your misery. But you are not worthless nor their stepping stone. You just need some mentoring, proper guidance and one advice that will suit you. And that’s what it is. It’s only a tough situation through which you need to pass and survive stronger than before. After all, “it’s how well you pass through fire” that matters.
To sum up, people talk, they will continue to do so and they will always try to play Jesus. But what happens when you do succeed something on your own? People talk again. From where I stand, no one offers you a job or an encouraging and honest word when you need it the most, but when you get a job people talk. After my relocation, people started texting me. People that hadn’t talked to me since high school or people that I knew for sure that were talking behind my back. Texts were sent not to congratulate me for getting a job after 2 years of unemployment but to ask me something. Texts went like that: “Hey Anastasia, I saw you got a job abroad. Can you help me find one too?” See, I told you the arena is a cruel place to be.

The 2016 came, I had already visited the States and returned back to Europe. My applications reached the fascinating number of 5000 all over the globe from Vietnam to LaLaland, and from Sweden to Russia. My trip to the States during this period of emotional stress and professional disappointment was a great gift. I observed part of the world and part of myself. I even got the best piece of advice from a friend of mine that lives there almost a decade now. I just had to find what I want and stick to that. Eventually, everything else will happen. Not magically of course. I would have to work hard for my goal and when it becomes my reality I would be calm and peaceful enough to work on the rest aspects of my life. For her that was her personal life that was important and when it was all set, career followed. For me, it was the job.
I organized my trip to the states alone, I flied there all by myself and I spent two months almost alone. I had people to visit and I didn’t plan a trip to the arctic pole but it was for me a chance to do something alone, unprotected, like a fish out of the water. I was feeling like a 3 year old child who has a bag full of candies but doesn’t know how to open the bag. I enjoyed every single moment and guess what? I came back the weight I was supposed to be. Lost the 80 pounds that unemployment and my stupid self had given me and I felt more at peace than ever. I found a little house in Italy, stayed there for two months and had some trips around to see the country, learn the people, gather material for my book, my articles, my social media accounts. I fed my eyes and my soul. I started to exercise, my mood changed, I had to change my whole wardrobe, I look healthier than ever, dyed my hair black and I rarely stay home. I meet my friends and acquaintances as often as I can, I talk more with my family, I play with my dog, I enrolled myself at a Harvard’s online course, I study Hebrew and Farsi and I do yoga every day. And it came. Since March I was called constantly for interviews in Italy, France, Swizerland. I even had 6 interviews in Greece. I travel back and forth in the most amazing european cities, Milan and Paris and I feel grateful any time the plane lands or the train reaches the destination. I feel grateful and peaceful, creative and productive. I write every day, I listen to people, I listen to music, I support causes and I feel. I feel a human being. I do not feel unemployed. I am not. Started to believe in myself and thus I started to believe that I can be my own boss. So I started my project, freelancing and enjoying life wherever that leads me to.
Image title

My applications for a normal job, 9-5, have reached the 7000 and still counting. Not that I will stop my projects when I get one, but I am still so curious to see at which number my luck will change. You see the worst part of being unemployed is that you shut yourself down. And you are alone honey, during your whole life. You are alone if you do not respect your own self. People, the famous others that sociology names, do not expect anything from you when you don’t earn money, when you don’t have a career. People count on you only if they have something to expect from you. Well, that’s just how humans are. Lovers and friends don’t have to be that way. Unemployment is a multilateral test to really find out who stands for you, who stands by you. Guess who’s the one to give up on you first…You.
Eventually, we all find our way and some of us learn that the arena isn’t such a bad place to be. Just keep your eyes open for those hungry lions around. You might end up eating that bloody flesh.
For all the women that have been in my shoes, for the ones that are today and for the ones that won't be lucky enough not to be, I will March. Never alone, Never weak.

Hearts without a door or heartless doors?

https://onmogul.com/stories/hearts-without-a-door-or-heartless-doorshttps://onmogul.com/stories/hearts-without-a-door-or-heartless-doors

Paris baby, 2016
When life closes a door to you, people advice you to open it again. It's a door. That's its basic function; to open & close. People on the other hand, have multiple functions- and i use the word in the most positive figure of speech. They are partners, parents, friends, coworkers, acquaintances, neighbors & whatever else you can imagine.
Image title
Paris baby, 2016
You allow them to come into your life & then you let them go. Easily like that or not. You let more then to do the same thing again & again. Maybe less easily.. Maybe with fewer expectations, with many or with absolutely none attachment to each other.
Some of them are irreplaceable, while others sneak into your life & you forget it all. Some leave without any notice because their expectations demand more from you & others stick close to you just because their only expectation is You..
Image title
Paris baby, 2016
Fruitful expectations. Created knowing that they will never be fulfilled. You want people to have a function in your life; to stay. But you ought to have some space in your heart, to have the will for that & a sunshine to warm them up with. You have to be ready to show them your own magic function.
People will always come and go. They will keep opening & closing doors. Just like they open & close their ❣. In any given chance, with the first sense of boredom, the tiniest fear the greatest disappointment, the most innocent kind of egoism. Some grow up, some get hurt, some simply can't.
People will always come & go.
Doors will always open & close.
You will always know that hearts eventually shut down.

If you have love in your heart, let it show

People walk by. They pass in front of you. They approach your eyes but never look at them. They run, they stumble, they fall, they wait. They leave or they come back. People are moving. Sometimes it takes more than a moment to realize that there are actual people around you. People are in a rush. So, they do not pay that much of attention. People are not looking. They are not observing what goes around them. Unless its too sad or too nice. So, people are also selfish. They care for the bad and the good things of their own interest and that's when they turn around. That's when we turn around.

So, again, of you have love in your heart, let it just show.

It does not matter where you 'll show it. You just have to spread it around and people will admire your bravery. Because it takes a lot of courage to demonstrate your feelings. That is why people tend to lock love inside. Sometimes behind two sad eyes, a wounded soul or memories that have gone bad.

Milano; the necessary stop

I always have to visit Italy. Sooner or later, I do believe that this country will offer me a warm home and a lovely life into one of its amazing cities. This time I had the chance to spend a few days (4 actually) in Milan. The capital of fashion. My arrival there has been a bit unpredictable since I was initially on my way home for Christmas. This means that I was carrying 40kg of luggage and had to stroll around the city like a nomad. Fortunately, people were extremely friendly to help me with the weight, especially when there were no lifts or electric stairs around.

I do not know why, but this time Milan was extremely sunny. Maybe I was in desperate need of sun. I walked around Navigli and let the sun kiss me for so many hours that I almost got lost. But a great espresso can wake up even the most disoriented person. Yes, i was disoriented by the beauty of this city, by the smells and the tastes around, by the smiles of the locals who were spreading "buongiornos" around! The luxurious via Montenapoleone was crowded. From the China town neighborhood until the corso Como I found amazing little stores providing flavors to the curious visitors and cocktails with style. I had one or two. ;)
It might not be a city famous for its art and architecture but its an italian city. Every single one has its own artistic identity. And with all those parks breathing around, the city creates a mixture of environments where one can find it all. At least I did.

This has been a perfect ending to a strange 2015. The year was just a huge disappointment until the moment I moved to France, early in August. I had the chance to travel around, more than usually. Met some amazing people and counted down numbers of new experiences. For 2016 I have a huge list of things I feel I own to myself. I will share many of these with you, some of them with my closest friends and some will be my personal projects. The last ones will be dreams coming true. And I cannot wait to live them. In fact, i had postponed them for so long. Now its just the time to go wild for a while. Or more...

Which kind of Love is the higher law?

It is a well known song but I hadn't listen to music for long time. At least the music that cures the soul. One morning it just hit me and now it simply cannot find its way out of my mind. Through the messy, stressful and abstract ideas that I have gathered inside my head during the last days this song is just the solution. It truly is. Because I had plans and life turned them upside down. But its ok, cause there are people that had worst experiences recently. And I respect that, I feel grateful for still having the ability to make plans, as much as i feel sorry for the human beings that have never felt love and those that have never understood it.
Then I thought of all the time I have spent trying to explain love, to rationalize it, to make it work. Instead I realized how much love I had coming my way but I was too busy chasing reasons and weak excuses and then I felt that I had to love myself again. My plans were forced to change but still I had the need to make a long list, with the things I haven't done for a long time now, with the places I wanted to be, with the priorities I had to set, with needs and obligations. No sentiments included, no feelings, no emotions. A long, cold list of duties. But I thought again. When you are forced to change your life all over again and you feel no pain or sadness for that, are you really ok? How many changes are enough to make you focus on a plan based on a long list?
What if you had a rebellion against your own self? What if you had no plans and just lived tomorrow as it comes? What if you just gave yourself the present of life in its most primitive form? The present of setting everything back for a while in order to hunt adventures and possibilities you have never thought of? Yep, possibilities. Like the possibility to laugh, to cry, to get disappointed, to get lost, to get stronger. And all of these amazing possibilities might happen in places where the rain never stops to soak your skin, where the sun kidnaps you on a lonely beach, with people you have never talked to before or with others that you had forgotten you knew once.. Like an old and beloved song. Cause there are people like that. People that can cure the bleeding soul of yours. You just have to explore the possibilities of meeting them, again or for the very first time.
And then you will have the greatest adventure of life. The adventure of Love; Of that one, valuable and difficult, fucken love for yourself. -myself..

Let me tell you, how houses get haunted..

Do you know the feeling when you rent your very first apartment? That's a unique moment, a moment you feel strong enough to pull it through life and responsibilities, a moment you feel so sure about your decisions or a moment you just can't help yourself but find a beautiful place to settle.
It's a place where you love to be, a space you decorate over and over again in your mind and it ends up to be better than you imagined it cause probably it is already filled with the prettiest things you have. Or human beings. Or animals.

It is a place you will always remember. Sometimes more than it's socially or sentimentally accepted. Other times you will search for a similar place to live but nothing will fulfill your expectations. Nothing will be as equal as the first place you have chosen to mark you as an adult, a place in which you loved and laughed, a place where you've cried and a place in which you grew wiser.

Eventually, you will move on. You will have more than one places and maybe some of them will make you feel better than the very first one. In few cases though, some hearts are left behind. To the place they felt happy. There's nothing wrong with that. A heart can always have its own place to live.
Maybe that's why houses get haunted. Because a heart has been left there on purpose.

The Love Speech

This week I had the chance to attend an interesting and almost "strange" two-days, international conference. The major discussion was about the hate speech and the liberty of expression. I enjoyed the sessions even though this is neither my field of studies nor my professional background. But since social media have intervened so much into our lifestyle, i suppose that this is nowadays everyone's field and background. You see, there is no one around us without a single social media account. I have almost 30 and I am using them depending on my mood. If i assume that everyone else is doing the same, i expect to detect some hate speech and too much liberty of expression.
Considering that our world has become more advanced and globalized hate of speech seems to be more of a left over. But no. This is not the case. Hate speech is everywhere around us. In our everyday life, shopping or hopping on a bus, watching a tv show or reading a newspaper, talking to a stranger or talking to a loved one. But i started wondering...Where has the love speech gone?
Are we really so busy of finding some minutes to express ourselves or we have just forgotten how to talk to each other? Are we incapable of talking with kindness to other human beings or it is just a phase where symbols and emoticons do the job? Why did we became so vulgar? What changes so significantly within us that we cannot talk freely to the people we used to share our deepest thoughts with? Is it the perception we have about them or the perception they have about us that shifts our speech from the one side to the other? And if it is none of the above, will we ever be able to speak to each other freely again?
Mind the gaps: liberty of expression does not mean absolute truth or honesty. Love speech is not always based on feelings of love too.

A place in the sun...

Who doesn't know and who doesn't like Morrissey? Haven't met yet a person that didn't whispered a few lyrics once in a while. So do I.
A place in the sun is all one should ask for. And this is not because I was born Greek and was used to have an endless sun on my face. It is mostly because of the sun that will warm our souls. The sun that will come into our life and there will be no more darkness, no more shadows. A sun that will make everything brighter, even if it is not supposed to be. Happiness again, it always comes down to this particular pursue. The pointless need to identify the things around us as good or bad, happy or miserable, needs and musts. A list that can fill pages with its contrasts and its different elements.
But once again c'est la vie.
The sun. The warmth that cures it all. A little sentiment that brings along memories of summers in love, lunches with friends next to the sea, walking at the pier watching couples sharing hugs or fights of jealousy, opening the curtains and having a home full of its light, drinking a coffee and thinking nothing at all, or walking to the office for a stressful day and thinking what if you skipped that meeting...
Or simply a sun that we carry within us. One little star full of warmth and light that can brighten someone's life. The happiness we look for maybe is the one we carry inside our heart and it just waits for the right persons to find it. And then we can become their place in the sun.
But once again that's life, sun will come and go.
So do people.

People with dreams are scary.

It has been a full week for me. Full of sentiments, changes and obligations. Usually this type of week is never a good period for thinking. But still, the human brain is so multitasking that fits it all inside. And that is so annoying. Especially when all you want to do is close your eyes and dream.
Dreams, a favorite habit. Most people do that but the ones that are seriously dreaming are the scariest people alive. It must be the easiness with which they plan everything or the ability to walk through nightmares totally safe and sound. These little scenes of imagination are a piece of personal confessions never said and never written. Silent needs that demand their realization and we try so hard to make them go away, so hard that we make ourselves wake up in the middle of the night. That's why most of the dreams never have an ending, eternally hanging on to be continued during the next sleep or remaining a faint memory that no one can list in the real life or the subconscious part of us.
People with dreams are not worried. They can see their dreams falling apart and at the same time they can make them work again or create new ones from scratch. They can share their dreams, they can mingle them, they can change them or they can offer them to someone who needs it more. In any case they are creating their own world and they settle inside until the real one is safe for them. People with dreams are afraid to meet the truth. They dare to jump in fiction and walk through streets of the unknown but they are threatened by the darkness of the world. The darkness that fills the human brain, that multitasking brain that never stops finding ways to ruin a dream. People with dreams are afraid that they might lose their ability to dream. Too much blood comes out of the great dreams that died.
People with dreams, glorious and amazing dreams are usually the ones to be laughed at. People with dreams are the ones that still search for the perfect piece that will fill their puzzled life and make everything work out magically. People with dreams do not need to close their eyes, they do not feel sorry for missing something ordinary, they do not hesitate. People with dreams chase the things that we cannot imagine. They are the people that we are feeling jealous of and yet we do not applause them because it is too romantic, to vain, to pointless to dream in a world like ours.
People with dreams are never alone. They have friends in their little universe, friends that are caring and are always present. They have perfect houses and huge families. They have careers and they have "eaten" the world. Many things to do in the everyday life and no hurt feelings at all.
The people that have dreams have also happiness. Lot of happiness. Because they know that they have something to search for. They know that they have still something to hope for. They have still faith in life. People with dreams are never alone.
But that's the scariest thing about them; Happiness is always pending.

He and her sunlight...

She strolled around like Nancy was her own home. She has always dreamt of a parisian apartment with high ceilings and huge, white windows that will let the sun rays to wake her up gently. She loved the sun. But this day in Nancy was not the sunniest she could have. She walked around for some minutes and the buildings reminded her some Ionian islands and the summers she had spent there. It was not the sea she missed so much but the sense of carelessness each summer carries with its arrival.

She found a place to sit before the rain and thought a while about her apartment. It would be full of paintings laying on the wooden, dark floor. The books she reads would form a library on their own being spread around just like her ideas, her projects and her drawings. Nothing had his final form yet. Like waiting for a last touch and like this touch is the most important one. Her apartment would be filled with colors but not on the textiles or the walls. The colors would come from the flowers in the vases, Freesias that she liked a lot. And with this thought she ordered a hot coffee until the last drop of rain.
That day in Nancy when her company arrived became sunnier than she imagined it to be. She had her coffee, they chatted pointlessly for an hour and then they walked again to find what is hidden in the narrow streets of that city. Lorraine had its myths and so did she.
The day was over and the engine of the car made her realize how fast time can slip through your hands when you are day dreaming. The road was long before getting back home. The music of the unknown french radio station was leaving no space for talking. So she thought again of her apartment and suddenly a question bothered her.

Would he like the sunlight to wake him up as well?

The need to stand

on your own feet. How can you become the person you want to unless you don't manage to stand on your own two feet? Difficulties will appear, fears will keep you company, many times you will feel lonely but in the end you will be proud of your little self that managed to become independent, fearless and so strong. You will meet people that will hurt you, you will lose friends and you will feel disappointed by others that you have trusted and supported. But it's ok, cause its your own feet you need to stand.
Sometimes you will find the ones that will be willing to stand by you. These will be other independent and fearless people who will not be scared by your freedom, who will share their experiences with you waiting to hear yours as well. These will be amazing people who survived the same disappointment and loneliness. They wont be willing to stand by you, they will be meant to do so. You will keep these people.
You will be forced to stand in front of your fears too. You will not be able to avoid this. It is not as difficult as it sounds. Usually we realize how easy things are when we already try them. And you have to try a lot of exciting things.
And when the years pass, and you are able to consider yourself an adult, you will need to stand for what you believe in. That's a virtue not many people share. But in the end it is the only thing that you need in order to stand on your feet proudly and with no shame, to stand by the people you love without any guilt or hypocrisy and to stand in front of your fears without feeling threaten or weak. Stand for what you believe. Especially when it makes you extremely happy.
Enjoy your weekend

Never skip a cup of coffee...

It is sociologically proven that coffee is not only a beverage we enjoy. Besides the benefits (some say the opposite) it is a habit that makes people gather around it's blend and share love stories or professional details. It is a way of communicating, socializing and of course de-stressing. I know, i know..There is nothing like a nice cup of tea to soothe any type of pain! But this is another story, one a true coffee lover would not share at this point.
You know, usually coffee wakes us up but what it really does is to give us a sense of potentiality. The belief that we can do everything and that something amazing is going to happen to us. Each brand new day starts with a coffee. Most of the love affairs start with a coffee date. Friends are meeting upon a coffee mug. We hold up an espresso before opening a newspaper or a book. We post or tweet with a cup of cappuccino next to us. We like it macchiato or corretto or even cortadito for intense flavor!Coffee is a minor habit that brings us together. We wait in cafeterias for our friends, we have coffees and share the news, the secrets, the pain together.
These minor details can make our greatest relations ever stronger. The need to create a way of communication, the need to have a place full of memories we shape with our people, the desire to have a social presence and participation, the wish to share something from our life and receive a sentiment, a feeling or a smile. All in a sip of coffee. So, never skip a cup!Especially one that is enjoyed with a great friend.

Depictions of a night..(or a pause in Colmar)

Sometimes taking a break is not what we want but what we basically need. Even if we do not realize it. There comes a moment in our life that everything turns into a routine, a common schedule we have to follow in order to be more productive, to be on time, to succeed, in order to fill each minute with a sense of usefulness and importance. And then, there comes a moment when we pause. Unwillingly. There is no inspiration, no creativity, no mood to get off the bed, no will to smile to our beloved ones, no dreams to chase. Exhausted people striving to make the living they had planned.
How can we forget what our inner child used to wish for? Well, i suppose that people tend to neglect anything childish. Living on a pace fed only by anxiety and stress does not really offer space for memories and happy times. Is it worthy? I could strongly support people seeking a career, i would justify people aiming to a promotion rather than creating a family and i could surely understand people who enjoy their jobs. But most of all i do admire people who make their careers based on the things they love. I read about such success stories and feel the need to track my own way doing what i most certainly like to spend my time on. But i also understand how difficult this is and even if those people love their jobs, they still have to work some sleepless nights in order to achieve that.
Anyhow, it is a personal pursue and this is always the challenge;never to set aside the things one has hoped for, cried for, struggled for. Between the months of endless work, among the days of stressful meetings or in between the hours of boring or uncertain meetings one should always search for a pause of happiness. If you have been spending hours in front of a computer or memorizing pages of academic books, if you have missed your friends or your partner, if you have forgotten when was the last time you played with your pet or if you just want to catch up with your favorite sit com then do so. I know, you have heard it before. I did so. But i came to a point in my life where i found myself far from my dreams. And it was not a pleasant discovery. Instead of a break though i preferred to shut down for a while. Then eventually, since i was always multitasking and with a bit of life-exploring curiosity, i filled my program so much that i could barely have a coffee with those who matter. That was a solution. The things i' ve learnt during this period are a treasure i will always keep inside me. It was a much needed period in order to find new interests, to re-find my rhythms, to throw away the social vampires i came across, to talk and mostly to listen.
As i was listening, i realized that i had found things that could make me happy but there were also things i had to do before embracing those. You know, there are nights when you feel helpless, when you try to find solutions but instead you end up watching another episode on replay. There are these nights when you stare the ceiling and you think of all the moonlight you never saw, when you recall moments of your life and you change some with the ones you really wanted to live, when you are too tired of sleeping because waking up is taking you away from your dreams.
It is like always living in your hometown and reading travel guides that remind you places you have never been. But if you finally find a ticket for your dream destination? You would go, that's the plan. But before that you have to stop somewhere else. You have to let everything linger, your old habits, the people that you leave behind, the memories..There is the need to let it all behind, to make room for the new ones to come.

That's a pause. A period during which you will not erase a single thing but you will just turn some blank pages. And then you will be ready for the next chapter. The in between time that will take away all your worries. It might be more than a year or just a single night where your ideal life comes into bits and pieces and forms depictions of your blissful time.

Life is made out of sparkles, let's twinkle.
